Today’s featured Chrome web app game is Monster Dash, a horizontal scrolling shooter game. I say it is a well-calculated product that has many features of a successful game.
Monster Dash by Halfbrick, Fruit Ninja’s Creator
Monster Dash was created by Halfbrick, the creator of the popular iPhone game Fruit Ninja. (In fact Monster Dash has an iPhone version) While there is no guarantee that brothers must be similar, I can see traces of similarity here.
Like Fruit Ninja (which is a touch-screen game), Monster Dash’s control is very simple. You need only two buttons, Jump and Shoot. The main character of this game, Barry Steakfries, who is Halfbrick’s action hero, runs all the way forward. There is no way you could stop him. So you must help him by jumping up to avoid blocks and gaps and shoot the monsters. Otherwise he would die either by hitting rocks hard, falling down into gorges or meeting the monsters.
